1479, Martin Segoni

In 1479, Margin Segoni wrote his description of the Balkans, where he briefly mentions Pristina. Pictured is a French translation of a variant of this manuscript located in Milan, published later.

The plain of this plain [of Kosovo] extends about 70 thousand paces to the village of Kaçanik and the gorge of Klisura, which leads to Skopje, while it expands between two rivers, Sitnica and Llap, surrounded on all sides by mountains, in who live innumerable peasants and villages; while on the left side there is a rich village of Prishtina, which, due to its abundance, was once used as a holiday resort for the owners of Mizia.
