The mosque was popularly known as the mosque of Llukaqi and based on some early photographs, it is implied that it was located where the Swiss Diamond hotel is located today, near the Theater of Pristina. According to the inscription on the mosque, it was built in 959/1551-1552 by Veliu, the son of Yusuf. In 1953, the mosque of Llukaqi was destroyed by the decision of the municipality, but its traces came to light in 2012, during the construction of "Ibrahim Rugova" Square. After the interest of the responsible institutions (Institute for the Protection of Monuments and the Islamic Community of Pristina), immediately the remains of the mosque and the tap were taken under protection, being covered with glass.
