According to official Ottoman documents, this shrine was built in 1893, immediately after the creation of the Muhajir/Forcibly Displaced Quarter by the Sanjak of Nis during 1878–1890. While the naming of the Kaderije mosque was done as a sign of respect for Shehzade (Prince) Abdylkadir Efendi, the son of Sultan Abdylhamit II (1876–1909).
